Electronic Book Equivalents Session

The session moderators, Kim White and Sarah Townsend, will outline a framework for a discussion of âElectronic Book Technologies,â beginning with some tentative definitions and conceptual parameters and then opening the topic up for wider discussion. The descriptive framework will consist in two parts: 1) Types of Texts Addressed; and 2) Issues for Consideration. Types of Texts include the following broad categories: a) Creative-Critical Works; b) Reference Works; c) Mass Market Publications; d) Electronic Textbooks; e) Ephemera; and f) Collaborative Constructions. Issues outlined will include: a) Preservation; b) Standardization; and c) Literacy. The moderators will also have onhand an assortment of exemplary texts from all forms available for display and commentary.
